Google Ads test
Send paid clicks to the calculator first, not the checkout page.
For the first ad test, keep the budget small and the promise plain. The goal is not to force a $9 purchase. The goal is to see whether beginner sellers actually use the free calculator.
First test setup
| Setting | Starter choice | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Budget | $5/day for 7 days | Enough to learn a little without pretending the campaign is proven. |
| Landing page | Free profit calculator | The page gives value before asking for the $9 sheet. |
| Conversion to watch | Calculator use, sheet clicks, email/contact clicks | Purchases may be too sparse in week one. |
| Ad promise | Check product margin before ordering samples | Clear, useful, and not a fake earnings claim. |
Starter keywords
Keep the first ad group narrow. Use phrases that match the calculator, not broad ecommerce dreams.
- tiktok shop profit calculator
- tiktok shop fees calculator
- tiktok shop product margin
- tiktok shop seller calculator
- tiktok shop roas calculator
Negative keywords
Block searches from people looking for jobs, coupons, software downloads, or platform support.
- jobs, hiring, salary, internship
- coupon code, promo code, discount code
- apk, download, cracked, free trial
- seller center login, customer service, support phone
Ad copy to start with
| Headline | TikTok Shop Profit Calculator |
|---|---|
| Headline | Check Margin Before Samples |
| Headline | Free Seller Math Tool |
| Description | Enter price, cost, fees, creator cut, ad spend, and returns. See the margin before you test a product. |
| Description | Built for beginner sellers comparing TikTok Shop product ideas. Free calculator, optional $9 starter sheet. |
Stop rules
Do not keep spending just because clicks are cheap. Cheap curiosity is still expensive if nobody uses the calculator.
- Pause if most clicks bounce without touching the calculator.
- Pause if search terms are mostly jobs, login help, coupon codes, or unrelated TikTok questions.
- Keep going only if visitors use the calculator or click through to the starter sheet.
- Do not raise budget until the landing page has enough useful visits to justify it.
Policy and landing page checks
Before launching, make sure the landing page loads, matches the ad, has visible navigation, and avoids fake earnings claims. ShopROAS should say what it does: it helps sellers estimate product math. It should not promise a winning product.
