Creator samples

TikTok Shop free samples are not free for the seller

A sample might be free for the creator. It is not free for you. You still pay product cost, shipping, packaging, time, follow-up messages, and sometimes replacement units. Put a cap on the batch before the first product leaves your shelf.

What to count before sending samples

InputExampleWhy it matters
Landed product cost$8.00This is real inventory, even if the creator does not pay.
Outbound shipping$4.00Small products can still get expensive across 10 creators.
Creator count8Controls the size of the first batch.
Expected usable videos3Not every sample turns into useful content.
Follow-up spend$0-$100Some tests need extra samples or a boosted clip.

Starter formula

Sample budget = creator count x (landed product cost + shipping + packaging) + follow-up buffer

If your first creator batch costs $96, write that number next to the product margin. A product with thin profit per order may need too many orders just to repay the sample batch.

When to stop sending samples

Stop the first batch when you have enough signal to make a decision: views with weak comments, saves with no checkout clicks, or decent content but no ad room. Sending more product without a margin check is how a cheap test turns into a quiet loss.
