Creator commission strategy for TikTok Shop sellers

Higher commission can get more creator attention, but it also takes money from the same margin that has to pay for shipping, fees, returns, and ads. The goal is not the highest commission. The goal is a number creators care about and your product can survive.

Work backward from profit

Max commission = price - product cost - shipping - fees - ad spend - return reserve - target profit

If that number is small, commission is not the problem. The product may be priced too low, cost too much to ship, or have too little perceived value.

Commission tiers

TierUse it whenRisk
LowThe product already converts or has strong brand pull.Creators may ignore it.
MiddleYou need creator interest but still want margin.Works only if the product page is solid.
HighYou are buying attention for a first test. Can erase profit fast.

What to test

Start with a commission your calculator can defend. If creators ignore the offer, test a higher commission on a small batch instead of raising it for every product. Keep notes on which creators actually post, which videos sell, and which products get interest but no orders.
