Beginner workflow

From viral product to first test

A viral product is not a product plan. It is only a lead. Before you order samples or promise a creator a cut, put the idea through a small math check.

This page is the beginner route I would use: capture the product, write down the real costs, run the calculator, then decide whether the test deserves money.

Original ShopROAS visual A simple path from product idea to margin check, sample cap, creator plan, and first test decision.

Use this formula first

Test decision = product idea + landed cost + creator cut + ad room + return reserve

Start with one clean product card

Write the product name in plain English, then add the link, screenshot time, visible price, likely supplier cost, and the customer problem it solves.

If you cannot explain why a buyer wants it in one sentence, do not buy samples yet. The calculator helps with margin, but it cannot fix a vague product.

Use the calculator before the sample order

Open the ShopROAS calculator and enter the boring numbers first: product cost, packed shipping, packaging, platform fee, creator commission, ad spend per order, and return reserve.

If the product only works when every number is perfect, keep researching. Beginner sellers need margin that can survive small mistakes.

Write the stop rule before launch

A useful first test has a stop rule. For example: stop after five samples if creators do not understand the angle, or stop after a fixed ad spend if the product cannot reach break-even.

This keeps the test small enough to learn from instead of turning one product idea into a messy bill.

Run the math before spending

Use the free calculator first. If the product still looks worth testing, use the Seller Starter Sheet to track 10 product ideas, sample notes, creator plans, and weekly results.
